Our Client is seeking a Project Engineer for Electrical products in our Cranberry PA office.  This is a small office, with opportunities for employees to get involved with electrical projects from cradle to grave.  This is a hands-on opportunity to work closely with customers and engineering.  Engineer will be responsible for:
  • Providing a wide range of project engineering services, which may include managing people, and/or the scoping and scheduling of standard engineering projects for electrical products in the nuclear industry. 
  • Projects may include products such as transformers, motors, generators, variable speed drives, etc…
  • Leads standard projects and assures work is performed in compliance with technical requirements, budget and schedule. 
  • Performs equipment  qualification activities for various electrical products in order to certify products as safety related for the nuclear industry. 
  • Directs other engineers working and contributing on the electrical projects and will also facilitate and direct vendors who provide equipment for the project. 
  • Coordinates all engineering work (development of procedures, definition and acquisition of required tools, materials, etc.) and other preparations which will be required to implement the contract. 
  • Plans, organizes, implements and follows through on the engineering tasks to completion in order to address client’s need.  In addition will provide field support of the projects, including start-up and commissioning of the projects. 
  • Defines and forecasts the necessary skills and work arrangements to support the objectives of the project and works with manager to obtain the necessary engineering support for the project. 
  • Proposes plans and cost improvement programs that allow the project to achieve its business objectives.
Typical projects your group may work on:
  • The procurement and provision of Electrical Products to the Nuclear Industry including but not limited to circuit breakers, relays, starters, contactors, transformers, motors, generators, and drives.
  • Proposal development for large scale projects.  The business also involves application engineering working with vendors to develop effective solutions to customer problems and in response to customer requests for quotation.
Company Description Our Client is dedicated to the design and construction of nuclear power plants and research reactors, instrumentation and control, modernization and maintenance services, components manufacture and the supply of nuclear fuel. The IC&E Engineering & Products group provides Electrical Products to the Nuclear Industry.  The work performed by the Engineering group includes Commercial Grade Item Dedication and Equipment Qualification activities to certify Electrical Distribution equipment as suitable for Safety Related applications and/or as Class 1E.  The department receives inquiries and requests for quote from customers including detailed specifications to which estimates to complete are generated which are used to develop proposals to customers.

All candidates must meet the following minimum  requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity.  Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
  • BS in engineering/engineering technology plus 7-10 years of related engineering and project related work experience.  An advanced engineering degree may be substituted for related work experience (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.).  In applicable states a PE licenses will be accepted in lieu of a 4 year engineering degree.
  • Experience with project engineering functions (reviewing and developing quotes, defining the scope of a project, developing an engineering task schedule for a project, prior experience directing/facilitating vendors, experience with project scheduling tools (i.e., MS project, Primavera, P3e). 
  • Experienced candidate has worked in a technical, highly regulated industry where engineering specifications must adhere to tight regulations and guidelines for qualifying material and components.
  • Must have min. of 5 years experience working with Variable Speed Drives (VSD) or Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).  Either experience performing engineering design or field support of these products is required. 
  • Must have working knowledge of applicable IEEE and ANSI standards. 
  • Advanced knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria.
  • Good communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.

TRAVEL: 
Travel is as necessary to customer sites to implement, start up and commission equipment.  Usually at the beginning of the project for 1-3 weeks at a time.  Can be as much as 50%, due to the high volume of work.
