Sr. Procurement Manager, Strategic Sourcing (Electronics)

THe overall objectives and function of this very key role to the organization:

To achieve year-on-year improvement in total cost, quality, and service by facilitating strategic sourcing activities for a portfolio of several commodities within Hardward and Electronics. Be leader/facilitator of H&E-wide sourcing teams, co-accountable with H&E Supply Management for execution and implementation of the sourcing strategy. The SSM will work closely with H&E supply management via ongoing category teams and other functions within the business unit (e.g., Engineering/Dev, Technical Services, and Tier-1 Manufacturing). This position will be responsible for $50 million-150 million in annual spend. The position will have a direct reporting relationship to the Hardware & Engineering Group Program Manager.

Major responsibilities
The Strategic Sourcing Manager’s (SSM) primary responsibility is to manage the cross-team development of the sourcing strategy for the category team, and ensure ongoing cross-business coordination, delivering annual improvements in total cost, quality, business relationship and service for the spend categories for which he/she is accountable. The SSM must be fully informed of the needs and capabilities of the business unit and contribute this expertise to the process of sourcing strategy development, supplier selection and negotiation and strategy refinement by the cross-function category team. The SSM has the following specific responsibilities:

Professional/Personal Skill Requirements
•     B.S. in Engineering or Business Management, MBA preferred
•     10 years of experience in related field
•     High energy and enthusiasm is required to establish a new sourcing organization; enthusiastic about opportunities to establish new approach to sourcing; willing to embrace TCO approach
•     Willing to make tough/unpopular decisions and “hold their own” with other functions and the ability to influence and embrace cross functional teams to TCO approaches
•     Ability to work independently and within a matrix environment; a self-starter
•     Strong combination of business and technical knowledge base, particularly for specific spend commodities
•     Analytical and strategic problem-solving capabilities
•     Strong communications skills (written and verbal)
•     Strong influencing and leadership skills
•     High tolerance for ambiguity
•     Potential as a future Manager or business unit purchasing leader
